Keyword Volume refers to the number of times a specific keyword or phrase is searched for in a given time period — usually measured monthly. It tells you how popular a keyword is and helps you gauge the potential traffic a piece of content could attract if it ranks well.

High-volume keywords can drive a lot of traffic, but they’re also more competitive. Low-volume keywords may attract fewer visitors, but they often have more specific intent and less competition — making them valuable in a targeted content strategy.

Example:

If “AI project management tool” has a search volume of 3,600 searches per month, that means — on average — people search for that exact phrase 3,600 times every month. If you rank on page 1 for it, you have a chance to capture a slice of that traffic.
