llms.txt generator
Create an llms.txt file that points AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity to your most important pages. Add your pages, preview the file live, then copy or download it.
How to create your llms.txt
Four steps from a blank page to a live file on your site.
Describe your company
Add your name and a one-line summary of what you do and for whom. It's the first thing AI tools read, so make it specific.
Pick your key pages
Group your most useful pages into sections like Product, Docs and Pricing, with a short note on each. Mark less important pages as Optional.
Check and download
The checklist flags missing summaries, incomplete URLs and duplicates. When it's clean, copy the file or download llms.txt.
Publish it at the root
Upload the file so it's live at yourdomain.com/llms.txt, and update it whenever you add or change key pages.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an llms.txt file?
llms.txt is a plain text file in Markdown that sits at the root of your website, like robots.txt. It gives AI tools a short summary of who you are and a curated list of your most useful pages, so they can find the right information without crawling your whole site. The format was proposed at llmstxt.org in 2024.
Will llms.txt get me cited in ChatGPT or AI Overviews?
Not on its own. llms.txt is a proposed standard, and the big AI search products haven't confirmed they use it for rankings or citations. It's most useful for AI agents, coding assistants and tools that read it directly. It takes minutes to set up, so it's worth having, but getting cited in AI answers depends on your content, mentions and authority across the web.
What should I include?
Keep it short and useful. Start with a specific one-line summary, then link the pages that explain your product best: features, pricing, integrations, docs, comparison pages and customer stories. Add a one-line description to each link. Put nice-to-have pages like your blog or changelog under Optional, so AI tools can skip them when they're short on space.
Where do I upload it?
The file should live at the root of your domain, at yourdomain.com/llms.txt. On WordPress or a custom site, upload it to your root folder. Webflow doesn't let you add files to the root, so a common workaround is to upload llms.txt as an asset and add a 301 redirect from /llms.txt to the asset URL in your site settings.
How is llms.txt different from robots.txt?
robots.txt tells crawlers what they may and may not access. llms.txt doesn't block anything: it's a guide that points AI tools to your best content and explains what your company does. You need both. Use robots.txt to control which AI bots can crawl your site, and llms.txt to help them understand it.
