Frequently Asked Questions
What is review schema?
Review schema is structured data that marks up reviews and ratings on a page. With an aggregate rating, it can make your page eligible for review stars in Google results.
Can I show review stars for my own company?
Not for reviews about the business itself. Google doesn't show review stars for reviews an organization or local business publishes about itself. Reviews of your software or products shown on your site can still be eligible.
What does Google require?
For a review: the item being reviewed, the reviewer's name and a rating. For an aggregate rating: the average rating and the number of reviews or ratings. The reviews must be real and visible on the page.
Can I mark up reviews from G2 or Capterra?
Only if the reviews are shown on your page and you have the right to display them. Don't mark up a rating visitors can't see, and don't republish reviews you aren't allowed to use.
Which types can be reviewed?
Google supports review snippets for software apps, products, courses, books, events, local businesses, organizations and a few more. For SaaS, SoftwareApplication is usually the right choice.
