An LLM citation is a linked or named reference to your brand or page inside an AI-generated answer. Citations are the closest thing AI search has to a ranking position.
How SaaStorm approaches it
Not all citations are worth the same. A mention in a top-of-funnel definition rarely moves pipeline; being cited as a recommended vendor in a "best X for Y" or comparison prompt often does. We weight citation tracking by prompt intent, the same way we weight keywords.
We monitor a fixed prompt set across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews, log which URLs get cited, and map them back to the source types the models prefer for your category. If the answers pull from G2 and a handful of listicles, that’s where the work goes, alongside making your own pages the clearest, most quotable source on the topic.
